Centre Point Charity Run Helps Special Needs Children
From 05.30, on Sunday March 1st, runners began to arrive at the registration point in Benjakiti Park to enter for the Centre Point Mini Marathon, which started an hour later at 06.30. Conditions for the run were pleasant, with an early morning temperature of around 26 °C and light cloud overhead. Some of the participants were happy to walk the course, as their main objective – helping Centre Point to raise money for charity – had already been accomplished when they paid their registration fee. Others were keen to run and see how they fared against the competition.
Those who ran the course were rewarded with a commemorative medal and the first three to finish in the various age categories were presented with a trophy in recognition of their splendid efforts. The winners of each category also received a work of art, created by the children at the Na Kitti Koon Foundation, the charitable organisation for which the Centre Point Mini Marathon was helping to raise money. The foundation works with special needs children in Bangkok, using art to encourage the children to communicate with others.
The opening of the Centre Point Special Run for People with Special Needs was presided over by Mr. Chatchat Sitthipan (CEO) and Mrs. Suwanna Bhuddhaprasart Senior Executive Vice President, Quality House Public Company Limited. Also in attendance was Mrs. Sonthanee Nattapol, from the Na Kitti Koon Foundation, to receive the funds raised on the day. The funds raised were donated in full, with no deductions for costs.
