Christmas in Bangkok 2019 - Silom

There are many great places to spend Christmas and New Year in Bangkok!  Silom is just one of several districts which are always ready to shower visitors in glitter and sparkle.  You may not assume that Thailand goes all out on festivities, but one trip to Bangkok over the wintertime will surely surprise you.  For that reason, we always recommend you book ahead if you are heading out here towards the end of the year!  Why not check out Kai New Zealand, for example, for a New Zealand-style Christmas dinner?

Christmas is a time of year when local businesses, hotels and eateries really take on that festive cheer.  Bangkok is a beautiful city all year round, but Silom takes on a brilliant new shape and style when the weather starts dropping a little colder.  What’s convenient for tourists and locals, too, is that they can easily travel to and from the district and its various treats to other areas of the city without complaint.

ICONSIAM’s Iconic Tree Displays

If you’re looking for Silom’s famous Christmas trees and lights displays, you are going to want to head to ICONSIAM.  ICONSIAM is famously the centrepiece of Silom’s festive celebrations, and if 2018’s illuminations and displays were anything to go by, visitors along the River Park will be in awe once again.  Last year, locals were treated to traditional Thai Christmas trees as well as superb lighting display known as the Magic Carpet.

It’s likely you’ll see similar displays here through Christmas 2019, as well as into the New Year in 2020.  Make sure to book a hotel room – as well as flights – as soon as you possibly can, so you can take full advantage!

However, the shopping areas and traditional avenues in Silom will also light up and sparkle throughout December.  Take in the main trees and displays at ICONSIAM, but don’t be afraid to travel a little beyond the beaten track.  The people of SILOM care about Christmas, which should be evident within minutes of your arrival!

Christmas Dinner at Kai New Zealand

It may surprise you how many restaurants, pubs and bars there are in Bangkok which cater to Western tastes!  While there are plenty of establishments which serve up the best Thai food the city has to offer, many people start to miss the traditional British food and drink of old.  Kai New Zealand goes a little bit further around the globe to celebrate Kiwi cuisine, however, which is a bit of a rarity in the city!

Kai New Zealand will ring in Christmas this year with a fabulous Christmas platter. Their full festive menu is available from Christmas Eve through to Boxing Day. Meaning that if you are looking forward to sampling home cooking with a Kiwi twist, you don’t have to go too far. The main course, for example, is a delicious free-range turkey!  Tuck into a classic Christmas pudding for dessert, too.

A three-course menu of treats here will cost 1350 Baht.  However, you should make sure to book as soon as possible.  Kai is a restaurant we always highly recommend, and with that, we think you should book a table as well as a room with us!

Christmas at Centre Point Silom

For all Silom’s wonderful Christmas and New Year lights, you’re going to need somewhere comfy and warm to sleep after taking it all in.  The Centre Point Hotel in Silom is on Charoenkrung Road close to all local restaurants and amenities, which means you should never have too far to walk to find the best sights.  In fact, you’ll likely find lights and trees cascading down the streets right outside our doors!

If you would like to check out the best Christmas lights and displays the city has to offer, Silom is going to be one of the best places to head to as a priority.  It’s just one of several resorts in the city which plays host to Centre Point, too.

If you’re new to Bangkok or are already in love with the culture and charm of the local scene, why not look out at Silom this Christmas and New Year?  We’ll be happy to host you in Silom as well as at one of our many hotels elsewhere in the city.
