One thing that visitors to Bangkok notice when arriving in the capital by air, rail, or road is an abundance of temples. Glimmering in the dawn sun or lit up at night for a special occasion, these are the sights that really tell you that you're in Thailand. In and around Centre Point Silom, there are a number of temples, far too numerous to mention all, but one stands out for visitors, and that is Wat Arun (near Centre Point Plus Silom). The temple receives many visitors throughout the year, but it is still very much a working temple, with local people coming to pray and religious ceremonies of all descriptions happening almost daily. Situated in Thonburi in the Bangkok Yai district on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, the temple is a stunning piece of Thai architecture that looks equally as magnificent from a riverboat as it does up close.
Getting to Wat Arun is easy. Head to Sathorn Pier and then take the Chao Phraya Express Boat to Tha Tien Pier (N8) and then get a cross-river ferry to Wat Arun. The trip is incredibly scenic, and you get to see many other temples dotted along the river banks, and, as a bonus, it’s a very inexpensive boat trip!
If you are planning a trip to Bangkok and would like to visit Wat Arun and the many other temples in the area, Centre Point Plus Silom makes the ideal base. Book directly with us for the best possible room prices.
