Canvas: Where Your Plate’s the Artwork

There are plenty of intriguing dining concepts in Bangkok.  Canvas, for example, is one of many eateries in the city willing to really push the envelope.  If you feel that your food should be a feast for the eyes as well as for the taste buds, it’s high time you head down to Thonglor for some truly unique dishes.

Art You Can Eat!

Canvas is a restaurant which is quickly building popularity with local foodies as well as tourists.  Not only can you sample Thai recipes and flavours at their absolute tastiest, but you can also marvel at what’s served up to you.  Presentation isn’t everything, but it can go a long way.

In the case of this restaurant, a Michelin Star – as the eatery celebrates joining a select club of restaurants and dining experiences celebrated by the reviewer.  The Michelin Guide highlights the location, run by the Chope brand, as a menu full of 'masterpieces'.

Michelin also appears to love the atmosphere and seating arrangements here, too.  So do we!  Canvas has a variety of seating options open to you, such as private, cosy seating on the upper level, or wider arrangements for groups on the ground floor.  You can sample the best of the menu here wherever you like, so make yourself comfortable!

Exploring the Menu

Just as you'd explore an art gallery for looks and styles which intrigue you, so can you explore the menu at Canvas.  You can take on tasting experiences which run between six and nine courses.  These arrive in delicate, carefully-designed bites, so you won't ever feel too full to try the next dish.

The restaurant brand itself recommends a variety of different dishes.  For example, try the wild catfish, served with turmeric and tomato – there’s a bone marrow surprise waiting for you, too.  The team also blends lemon basil and mangosteen with purple yam and plum, making for a fruity, tantalising dish which also looks incredible.  It seems a shame to eat some of these works of art!  They are certainly worthy of a photo or two.               

What's more, if you choose to dine on the ground floor, you'll be able to see your food being prepared.  The artists and chefs here never miss a beat. It's incredible to see them at work in their element, particularly as their creations are so vivid and so enticing. It's incredible that they can create such dishes against the clock!  However, real art should never be rushed.

Taking in The Area

The Thonglor area of Bangkok is close to the popular region of Sukhumvit, which is easy to reach through public transport. It's well worth taking the time to explore downtown Bangkok throughout the day.  At the end of a long day of sightseeing, why not treat yourself to some edible fine art down at Chope's landmark restaurant?
