Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand and Silapacheep Arts and Handicrafts Center

Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand is an iconic figure in all of Thailand. She is the consort of King Bhumibol and the mother to King Rama X, the current monarch of the country. She married the King Rama IX  in 1950 and ever since, she has become a prominent figure to the Thai citizens. She frequently toured the country with the king. These trips allowed her to connect on a personal level with them. Thais living in rural parts of the country consider royalty to be semi-divine. Her positive influence on the country still reigns today. As she’s always taken part in charitable activities for the community, two establishments exist in Bangkok, today. The Silapacheep Center and the Silapacheep 904 Shop.

Silapacheep Arts and Handicrafts Center

Her Majesty Queen Sirikit helped to establish the Silapacheep Arts and Handicrafts Center. Her travels around Thailand inspired the center. She interacted with so many people that were suffering in her country that she wanted a sustainable way to help them. It led to the founding of this center. The Silapacheep Arts and Handicrafts Center is developed to help Thais to be self-sufficient while still maintaining the culture. It also serves as a platform to promote Thai arts and crafts around the world. The Silapacheep Center hosts exhibitions and events to support arts and crafts throughout Thailand as well.

The Silapacheep Center is located in Bangkok. It has operations nationally and internationally to promote their cause. From a community perspective, the center helps Thais create supplemental income in times of natural disasters. They may not have the necessary corporate skills, but many people are skilled in making handicrafts. Handicrafts are a significant symbol of the Thai culture. Allowing the workers to earn an income from making handicrafts benefits the workers and preserves the culture. Her Majesty the Queen’s efforts have been highly recognized for striving towards sustainable living.

Silapacheep 904 Shop

The Silapacheep 904 Shop is another project from Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. It’s another place where you can experience the rich culture of Thailand. This time in the form of food. The Silapacheep 904 Shop is a food center selling Thai desserts, baked good, drinks, and other products from Royal projects. There are even healthy food options that you can find here. The best part is that everything served here is fresh.

The center is set up with various food stations so you can browse each specialty. There is a drink counter selling brewed coffee and other drinks. There are also stations to get freshly baked, favorite Thai desserts, from cake to candy, or fruit.

The Silapacheep 904 Shop also includes a Product Zone. This area is dedicated to the Royal projects of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit and King Bhumibol. There are many handicrafts made by Thai locals, developed through her Silapacheep Arts and Handicrafts Center.

Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand is a very significant public figure throughout the country. Her work has brought lots of fortune to the people of Thailand. These two projects alone help create a sustainable future for Thais while promoting the rich Thai culture around the world.
