The Loy Krathong Festival is an occasion that almost every Thai will mark, whether in Thailand or overseas, and this year falls on the 15th of November. Every body of water across Thailand will see increased activity as people pay their respects to the Water Goddess and pray for good luck over the rest of the year by floating their brightly colored Krathongs wherever they happen to be. The Krathongs are generally constructed using organic materials and are laden with flowers, candles, incense, food, hair, fingernails, and sometimes a five-baht coin for additional blessings and luck. Although there are plenty of ponds and lakes in Bangkok for the faithful to launch their Krathongs, many people, local and international, pay their respects at the Trimurti Shrine, which is located at the front of CentralWorld Shopping Mall. Trimurti represents the 3 pillars of God, namely the Creator (Brahma), The Preserver (Vishnu), and the Transformer (Shiva). The shrine is also known as the 'Shrine of Love' and is immensely popular with people seeking luck in their love life.
