Holiday Events Countdown in Silom

Bangkok is one of the liveliest cities in the region during the holiday season. While some cities quiet down as residents travel for the end of the year, visitors to Bangkok can expect the festivities — Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and beyond — to carry on with vigor.

Centre Point’s location in Silom is perfect for travelers seeking a mix of entertainment, shopping, and nightlife options during their holiday stay. Here are our neighborhood highlights:

Shopping

Christmas shopping in our neighborhood wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the recently-opened Iconsiam. Iconsiam takes the retail and entertainment experience to the next level — even regular visitors at Thailand’s luxury malls will be impressed with the size and range of retailers, and the delicious Thai food offerings. A seven-story Siam Takashimaya department store (Thailand’s first) and the only official Apple retail store are just a few highlights.

There’s so much to do just in Iconsiam, even before the special holiday events. Take a tour of the historical exhibits on the upper floors or the special Srimahasamut floating museum. Holiday decorations include a photo area with New Years decorations.

The mega complex is located right alongside the Chao Phraya river, with ample outdoor space in the River Park for a bit of fresh air when you’re done shopping. Free ferries available near Saphan Taksin BTS.

Rooftop Dining

A rooftop setting makes your holiday dinner even more romantic. The panoramic views are also perfect for New Year’s Eve, but be sure to make your reservation early as this is one of the most popular nights of the year for rooftop dining — and many bars will have ticketed events for watching the fireworks show at midnight.

Heaven Rooftop Bar has plenty of space for a larger group dinner, with a casual atmosphere in the clouds. Scarlett is another posh rooftop option located on Silom Road, reservations required. Enjoy a stroll through Lumphini Park followed by drinks at the nearby Hi-So rooftop bar for a great view of the park in one direction, and the sparkling city in the other.

Clubs and Bars

Party the night away on New Year’s Eve right in our neighborhood! There are more than a dozen clubs and bars in the area just north-east of the Silom MRT and Sala Daeng BTS stations. DJ Station is a popular and eclectic spot; Black Pagoda is a smaller bar nearby. Take a taxi for a quick connection to The Club at Koi, where a dressed-up crowd comes ready to impress.

The Skytrain system will be running on a special schedule past midnight on New Year’s Eve, so you can make your way from Silom to other areas of the city with an easy transport back to the hotel. We hope it is a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year!
