Did you learn the important Thai Phrases before visiting to Thailand

Are you planning to take a trip to one of the most beautiful countries on earth? If you’re picturing yourself on a white sanded beach, surrounded by crystal clear waters, while drinking a chilled Thai iced tea, you must be dreaming about visiting Thailand. Thailand is home to many tropical beaches, a lively and vibrant capital city, and a thriving forest area.

Not only does it have some of the best scenery in the world, but the native Thai people are very friendly and welcoming of all cultures. While you’re touring around one of the most popular Southeast Asian countries, it would not be a bad idea to learn some easy greeting words and phrases. Not only will you be able to communicate more effectively, you may be able to impress the locals, as well as make them smile appreciate your effort.

Many tourists try looking up simple sayings such as “How are you.” But having not heard the language spoken before, their pronunciation may not be accurate because of the tonal nature of the language, much like Chinese and Vietnamese. The accent marks on the letters indicate which tone to use when saying the word. Thai has five different tones, some of them are more distinct than others, such as the up and down tone.

Despite the lack of tone, locals appreciate the effort because they recognize how difficult it is for foreigners to speak Thai. The people are truly one of the aspects that makes Thailand so beautiful.

Not everyone in Thailand speaks English, so it’s best to be prepared. This is why we have prepared an infographic to help with the basics. It’s an easy format to save to your phone and access anytime.

As a traveler who’s visiting the country, you should push yourself to learn these basics, at least learn “Hi” and “Thank you.” If you plan to stay in the country longer, it might make sense to learn the number system too, in case you are interested in bartering and haggling at the local markets. In the bigger cities, such as Bangkok, you might be able to find a beginners class in Thai.

Here at Centre Point, we are always willing to help our guests with translations and booking tours with local guides. We have put together this creative and helpful infographic to introduce you to the Thai language so you can learn the basic greetings and phrases before you step off the plane.

Centrepoint has 5 different hotel properties in 5 different dynamic neighborhoods of Bangkok. If you’re looking to stay in areas that are close to the best shopping districts, food cart stalls, and nightly events, check out the rooms we have available here on our website.
