They also demonstrate how their crafts are made and produced and display them for the general public. This center is comprised of houses and different buildings and spaces that offer community gatherings, workshops, and more. There are hundreds of people who live and work in this space, making it a vibrant area. We are going to share the best spots within the Bang Sai Royal Folk Arts and Crafts Center so you know where to go when you come visit!

Experience the Arts and Crafts Village

If you’re looking to learn more about the local culture here in Thailand, the Arts and Crafts Village is the perfect place to visit. Set up by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the village hosts workshops centered around the Thai lifestyle and cultural aspects. Workshops are given on weekdays from 8:30am-5pm and on weekends from 9am-7pm. Visitors are also welcome to attend a performance of the traditional dance from the four different regions at 4:30pm every weekend and on national holidays.

Many traditional Thai weddings are held in this village, so it’s no surprise if you see a wedding ceremony take place while you’re walking around. After spending some time in the Arts and Crafts Village, you’ll discover why it’s such an incredible place!

Visit the Phra Tamnak

The Phra Tamnak is what is known as a royal residence and is only meant for the King and Queen of Thailand and their heirs. Visitors are welcome to view the outside of the house since there is a magnificent garden filled with blossoming flowers and a peaceful waterfall.

View the One-Thousand Armed Kwan Yin Bodhisattva

If you’re looking to see an impressive piece of art, you won’t want to miss the image of the one-thousand armed Kwan Yin Bodhisattva. This 6 meter (almost 20-foot) image of the original statue carved out of sandalwood was a gift given to King Bhumibol Adulyadej from China. The King has it displayed in the elephant pavilion within the Bang Sai Royal Folk Arts and Crafts Center for everyone to view.

Buy Souvenirs at the Sala Phra Ming Khwan

In the central area of the Bang Sai Royal Folk Arts and Crafts Center, the 4-storey Sala Phra Ming Khwan stands tall and proud. Each floor hosts different activities such as demonstrations, exhibits, and meeting areas for artists and farmers. On the first floor, there is a space where you can buy art and other craft products from local vendors. This is a great place to get authentic gifts for your friends and family back home while supporting the Thailand cultural art scene.

Learn about Thailand’s Marine Life at Wang Pla

Feeling fishy? Okay, more than likely not, but if you’re looking to see a spectacular display of native fish, head to the Wang Pla. The Wang Pla is an aquarium that is looked after by the Department of Fisheries in Thailand. This is a great place to view the tropical fish that inhabit the oceans and gulfs of Thailand and to learn about the marine life of Southeast Asia.

Watch Farmers and Locals Craft at the Training Buildings

Near the Sala Phra Ming Khwan building, there is the Arts and Crafts Training Buildings where they teach farmers how to produce crafts during the off season of farm production. Visitors are encouraged to view the processes that the farmers learn in hopes that they will feel inspired.

The Bang Sai Royal Folk Arts and Crafts Center is an extraordinary place to visit, especially for visitors looking to experience local art and culture. The closest Centre Point hotel is Centre Point Silom, located on just the other side of the river.
