Museum - Thailand Creative Design Centre and Thai Post Museum

Thailand Creative Design Centre + Thai Post Museum

One of the great things about Thailand is that there is so much to do, whether you are interested in cuisine, nightlife, or romance. However, one attraction in Silom that often doesn’t get enough credit is the Thailand Creative Design Centre. While there are some shrines, sculptures, and houses that have quite the rich history in Thailand, the Thailand Creative Design Centre (TCDC) was actually founded fairly recently, in 2004.

The Centre is a public resource center meant to provide information and resources for all things creative and markets itself as the “first design and resource facility” in Thailand. The Centre is part of a government initiative to push a “knowledge narrative” in society so that more people are aware of Thailand’s influence on the rest of the world. For those who work in design, this is a must-see. After all, the TCDC is home to Asia’s largest design library, boasting over 15,000 books on the subject. If you are a modern or aspiring designer, there is also a convention space for you to showcase your work for free, as well, which might lead to more business opportunities.

While it might not be considered a “museum”, there are often exhibitions on display at the TCDC. If you appreciate design in any way, you might learn to love this facility and appreciate the fact that Thailand wants the world to know that they have a lot to offer creatively. Whether you simply want to sip some coffee and read something interesting or check out the exhibits, you might find yourself appreciating the TCDC more than you expected.

There are all sorts of museums that are interesting to some people, but might not be that appealing to others. For example, there are some people that might prefer museums where they can see weapons from an ancient war and others who simply want to gaze at classic paintings. The Thai Post House Museum may not be everyone’s cup of tea, as it is focused on Thailand’s stamp history. However, there is a worldwide community of stamp collectors out there that might truly appreciate this museum in a unique way.

If you’re a history lover, there’s a chance that you might truly be able to appreciate stamps. Many different countries have used stamps to tell the story of their culture. There are stamps that might celebrate certain figures in society, whether they advanced the arts, politics, science, or even entertainment. Either way, stamps from centuries ago can be found at this unique museum. The museum was established in 1947 and has become a favorite among history lovers ever since.

While it might not be the best museum to visit with young children, the truth is that it can be fascinating for those who are interested in the history of the Thai Post Office, and various artifacts that they confiscated, as well. The entry fee is affordable. It should also be noted that the museum is not a large one, and you might find yourself occupied for an hour, maximum.
