The Thai people have very refined palettes in comparison to many other nationalities and have formulated the best dishes for certain seasons down to a tee, including carefully curated dishes for the summer. Although we could include literally hundreds of summer Thai examples, for the sake of clarity and conciseness, the team at Centre Point HQ would like to introduce a few of our favorites, so without further ado, here they are:
- Pomelo Salad – A tremendously citrus creation that is refreshing and light, making it a summer specialty for Thai people during the warmer months.
- Khao Chae – A special dish primarily composed of a bowl of rice steeped in iced jasmine-scented water with a selection of accompanying dishes. This very special dish isn't available everywhere, so do your research beforehand if you'd like to sample this creation when you visit Bangkok.
- Khanom Jeen Sao Naam (Thai rice noodles with coconut milk) – A perennial favorite with Thai people throughout the country, but especially during the summer months.
- Gaeng Som (Thai sour curry) – Due to the absence of coconut milk, Gaeng Som is easy on the stomach and a perfect dish for surviving the searing heat.
- Mango Sticky Rice – Although a dish served at all times of year, Mango Sticky Rice symbolizes the tropical summer with sweet ripe fruit, heavenly coconut milk, and sticky rice to add body to the most famous of Thai treats.
These are only a few of our favorites; if you would like to try something else or need inspiration, please speak to our staff when you check in at any Centre Point hotel.
